This will include gathering information on how well each of your body systems or organs might be functioning, as each of them can affect the others, for example we might consider your cardiovascular health, how your gut is functioning, and even your cognitive health. We’ll touch on diet, obviously, being a nutritionist this is our expertise, but we’ll also discuss how your lifestyle might be impacting on your health as well – both good and bad. We’ll also chat about your previous medical history and your family history, if known, as this gives us an insight into how your body responds to illness or injury, and also what you might be more predisposed to.

This is where we evaluate how successful our treatment plan has been so far. We’ll devise a new plan based on your feedback, and provide more tools (such as recipes, meal plans, referrals, prescriptions, inspiration etc) to make your journey easier. This appointment is typically 30 -45 minutes. 

This is hugely dependant on how complex your condition or current health concern is. For most people: we can make some good progress with 2-3 consults, however for those of you suffering chronic gut issues that have been going on for years: it may take us 6-12 months to get full resolution of symptoms. For most athletes: 2-3 sessions is all we need initially, and then I will often recommend 1-2 appointments each year to ensure your fuel intake matches your health and sporting requirements ongoing.

No. As I am a registered nutritionist as opposed to a registered dietician, I unfortunately cannot accept CDM’s/EPCs. However I am more than happy to work alongside and collaboratively with your other health care practitioners in supporting your return to optimal health. 

Possibly. There are a number of funds that will cover a portion of your nutritionist consults. Call your health fund to check if yours does. Be sure to let Lisa know that you are wanting to claim with private health so that she can add the appropriate provider number and codes to your invoice for you to claim back after your consult.

Like all professions, there are unfortunately varying levels of expertise and experience when it comes to nutritionists. If you’ve got a busted water pipe and you receive help from a dodgy plumber, you don’t suddenly assume all plumbers are shit. The same is true for nutritionists. If you’ve seen someone before and you didn’t get the help you needed: maybe it wasn’t the right practitioner for you. I have multiple years of experience in private practice as a clinical nutritionist, on top of a degree in nutritional & dietetic medicine. I’m also constantly updating my knowledge with the latest research and best practice. So you can rest assured I will do everything in my power to offer you the best nutritional and lifestyle advice you could receive. And if I don’t think I’m the best person for the job, I’ll point you in the right direction of someone who is.
